 Roe Park Resort leads the way in ‘Social Commerce’
The Roe Park Resort in Limavady has seen an unprecedented rise in demand as a result of an online offer they have run in conjunction with a new platform on Facebook. The offer for 1 night B&B at the deluxe golf and spa resort from only £42.50 per person sharing has been shared on almost 49,000 facebook pages, creating the potential for up to £2 million pounds of bookings. |
 Four leisure businesses in the Sperrins have been assisted by Invest Northern Ireland to embrace mobile communications technology that could help in attracting tourists expected to visit Northern Ireland as part of the NI2012 Our Time Our Place campaign.
The companies – Todd’s Leap, Ballygawley, An Creagan, near Omagh, Barrontop Fun Farm, Donemana, and The Jungle, Moneymore – pooled individual Invest NI Innovation Vouchers to develop NI Check IN, a smartphone app, with the help of the technology team at the South West College in Omagh.
The new app, which can be used on Apple's iPhones, makes it easier to access the wide range of leisure and activity facilities of the four Tyrone businesses. |

 Andor Technology has teamed up with the Irish Rugby Union Players Association (IRUPA) and the Grafton Employment Group to mentor Ulster and Ireland Rugby players, Andrew Trimble and Chris Henry, who are taking part in the ‘Ulster Rugby Mean Business’ mentoring programme.
The ‘Ulster Rugby Mean Business’ programme, which was launched at Ravenhill in January 2011 by IRUPA and Grafton, was devised to support IRUPA rugby players in their bid to secure a future career when their rugby playing days end. The programme helps them develop an alternative skill-set whilst actively playing to ensure they have a viable and secure future in later years. |
 Rail passengers in Northern Ireland can now take advantage of “on the go” ticketing with the launch of mLink, Translink’s innovative new mobile ticket.
mLink enables passengers to buy, receive and display an electronic ticket on their mobile phone doing away with the need for a paper ticket and Catherine Mason, Translink Group Chief Executive, says it has been developed with the customer in mind;
“We are committed to constantly innovating and improving our service for our passengers and through mLink we are providing rail customers with a convenient and easy to use ticketing system. Tickets can now be purchased through customers’ mobile phones, making it both simple and safe to purchase tickets anywhere at any time without any time spent queuing at ticket offices. |

A University of Ulster computing student has been chosen to take part in an innovative programme matching high performance athletes with employers.
Irish international paralympic swimmer Stephen Campbell from Cookstown, who is a second year Multimedia Computing and Design student at Magee, is one of the first people to be selected for the Institute of Sport’s Career Athlete Development Programme.
The pioneering initiative aims to secure flexible employment for elite athletes, giving them the opportunity to begin a career while maintaining the unique lifestyle required for top level competition. |

Philips Ireland said it is expanding its healthcare division in Ireland, creating 50 new jobs in Dublin and Belfast. Philips has been operating in Ireland since 1929 and employs several hundred people in Ireland across three major sectors - consumer Lifestyle, lighting and healthcare.
