A student from the University of Ulster’s Magee campus has won the coveted ‘2011 Awesome App’ award after the application (app) he developed while on the inaugural Kainos App Camp was downloaded over 10,500 times!Glenn Sayers, a Computer Science student from Ballymena, was one of eight high-flyers who took part in Ireland’s inaugural ‘App Camp’, a programme developed by leading technology company Kainos. |
 Transport Minister Danny Kennedy announced the extension of a trial cashless payment system to a number of cities/towns across Northern Ireland
Following the success of the initial trial of the first cashless payment scheme introduced in Belfast a year ago, the scheme will now be rolled out in Newry, Londonderry, Lisburn, and Omagh.
The Minister said: “We have had excellent customer feedback during our evaluation of Northern Ireland’s first cashless pay by mobile phone parking scheme. The scheme provides a viable alternative to coins at parking machines allowing a credit/debit card payment substitute and it gives people a convenient way to extend their parking stay. |
 Back in September 2011 Allstate Northern Ireland ran a competition for students to come up with an idea for a 30 second video clip for YouTube to promote their safe driving message of X the TXT – Don’t Text & Drive.
There were 3 finalists, Ulidia Integrated College, South Eastern Regional College and Craigavon Senior High School. All 3 finalists were given a day to film and edit their video clips at the Cool FM studios. |

The innovation-led company, based in east Belfast, is set to turn the mobile phone app industry on its head by enabling companies, organisations and individuals to design, build and launch their own cross platform apps for minimal cost.

Saudi New Zealand Milk products is based in Dammam, in the Eastern Province in Saudi Arabia and is 49% owned by Fonterra. They supply feta and sachet cheese and canned milk products to the majority of the GCC Countries in the Middle East and across Africa. |
