From today, Belfast based Rainbow Telecom will be known as Rainbow Communications in a move to highlight the continuing evolution of business communications.

BT Group selects Northern Ireland as the location for 120 jobs


BT today announced that it is creating a new state-of-the-art contact centre in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The centre will provide around 120 new jobs for multi-skilled customer service advisors and managers who can work flexibly across any part of BT Group that requires additional resource quickly. This latest investment by BT Group brings the number of people employed by the company in Northern Ireland to more than 2,600.

Belfast based eircom UK are part of a select body of 12 telecommunications and technology businesses who have been selected by the Cabinet Office to build a world-class Public Service Network representing a multi-million pounds government investment over the next four years.

 

The company, celebrating four years in Northern Ireland, is part of a framework agreement through which they will bid for work in the creation of what is called the Public Services Network.

 

Around 29 companies competed to be part of the framework agreement and just 12 were successful.

While their name may be tiny, TinyLife, aim to make a ‘Big Impression’ by providing much needed family support services across the province; an aim which the Belfast based data and telecoms integration specialists were delighted to support throughout the past year.

Employees from worldwide data integration and embedded telecoms specialists Asidua, outshone the competition once again as their team scooped the Addiction NI ‘Fastest Workplace Award’.

 

In treating over 2,000 people throughout Northern Ireland each year, Addiction NI’s mission is to provide professionally delivered treatment and support options to people affected by addiction in a way which promotes easy access, equality and inclusion.

 

To help raise awareness and essential supporting funds, the local charity organised the ‘Addiction NI 10K Run’, taking place along Belfast’s scenic Lagan Embankment on March 11th.

BT have launched a new burglar alarm weapon in the fight against cable thieves in Northern Ireland. The technology, called RABIT, can act within minutes and detect when a cable has been cut or damaged, accurately pin-pointing an incident to a road or street.

 

RABIT alerts BT’s Security Control Centre, and Police response teams, when cable thieves attack the company’s UK telephone and broadband network.

Arcatech Limited in Lisburn is investing over £450,000 with support from Invest Northern Ireland to design and develop an innovative new product for the global telecoms market.

 

The company provides simulation and test equipment for network operators, telecoms equipment manufacturers, laboratories and universities throughout Europe, the USA and South East Asia.

 

Arcatech’s new product will be a testing system which will enable its customers to verify that their equipment operates effectively with the IMS network which provides for IP/Multimedia services.

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has welcomed a £25million upgrade to Northern Ireland’s 2G and 3G telecommunications networks.

 

The Minister was speaking after a meeting with representatives from mobile companies Three UK, Everything Everywhere and Mobile Broadband Network Limited who are jointly funding the initiative. When the upgrade is completed at the end this year, the companies predict 3G coverage at 94%, a significant improvement on existing levels and in network performance and customer experience.

Newtownabbey based Northgate Managed Services (Northgate) has further cemented its reputation as one of the UK’s leading providers of ICT services by being named as Classroom 2000’s (C2k) preferred supplier for the new ‘Education Network Northern Ireland’ (ENNI) contract. The news was announced today at BETT 2012, Europe’s largest education ICT event in London.

 

The five year contract will see Northgate design, implement and manage a completely new and innovative Private Cloud environment for all schools in NI, providing secure access to resources online, 24 x 7 from a wide range of devices.

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster today welcomed the announcement that Belfast is to benefit from the £100million urban broadband fund announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in his Autumn Statement.

 

BT and Virgin Media have supported this initiative and committed to strengthening their networks in winning cities by offering broadband services with 80-100Mbps potential.

 

Arlene Foster said: “It is right that Northern Ireland should continue to benefit from national telecommunications infrastructure programmes.

Using proprietary technology, telecoms solutions company CMASS is providing dial plan changes for a global business information provider in 14 sites across 10 countries. Due to be fully completed at the end of September 2011, these changes are part of a global rationalisation programme within the organisation and will improve user-friendliness for this world leader in news and business information services.

The project involves converting multiple digit numbers to 7 digit numbers for over 12,000 extensions on Meridian 1 and CS1000 telephone switches in the 14 locations, including Brazil, Australia, Canada, Germany and Japan.

Causeway’s relationship with the London-based asset management company deepens following three years of cost-effective, on-demand IT infrastructure management and application development services

London & Belfast, Sep 1st, 2011 – London-based asset manager CCLA has further extended its relationship with Causeway, the application management services arm of Kainos, in the run-up to the launch of a major new fund by the company.

CCLA provides specialist investment services to not-for-profit organisations, and they have recently launched The Public Sector Deposit Fund, a triple-A rated cash fund for local authorities and other public sector bodies

The launch of the new fund required a major upgrade to CCLA’s business-critical dealing and registration system. CCLA instinctively entrusted the redevelopment work to Causeway Application Management Services, which provides critical infrastructure and application support services to the company.
