Ulster achievers set to compete in all-island final

  • Eight high-achieving Ulster companies are set to compete in the all-island Ulster Bank Business Achievers awards final in Dublin next week (December 3rd, 2015).

    Each of the companies was a winner in their respective categories at the Ulster stage of the competition, run in association with Invest NI, InterTradeIreland, the Belfast Telegraph, and SmallBusinessCan.com.

    The category winners were selected from over 200 entries from across Ulster and were presented with prizes in the provincial stage of the awards at the Ulster Museum, Belfast.

    Winners were:

      • Business Start Up: Environmental Street Furniture Ltd (Newtownabbey)
      • Small Business: AJ Power Limited (Craigavon)
      • Established SME: Novosco Ltd (Belfast)
      • International Business: Market Resource Partners (Belfast)
      • Social Enterprise: Bryson Charitable Group (Belfast)
      • Food & Drink: Lynn’s Country Foods Limited (Downpatrick)
      • Agri Business: Hannan Meats / The  Meat Merchant (Moira)
      • Women Led Business: Amelio (Belfast)

    The eight companies have gone forward for all-island judging against provincial winners from Leinster, Munster and Connaught, with the all-island winners, including the Overall Ulster Bank Business Achiever, to be announced on December 3 at a gala event in Dublin.

    This year will see the introduction of a new People’s Choice award. Members of the public are encouraged to vote for their company of preference by visiting  www.smallbusinesscan.com/the-peoples-choice.

    Wishing the Ulster companies well, Richard Donnan, Head of Ulster Bank Northern Ireland, said: “Ulster has a history of punching above its weight when it comes to lifting the top title in the Ulster Bank Business Achievers, as the four most recent overall Business Achievers were CDE Global, TG Eakin, Andor and Almac. We are confident that the eight companies this year will represent Ulster well again”.

    The overall winner will walk away with a comprehensive prize package comprising a €50,000 publishing bursary with the Belfast Telegraph, expert business mentoring from Enterprise Ireland, a full-service communications workshop and significant media exposure.
