This video highlights the forthcoming release of the much anticipated Galactic Racer. The preview was developed in May for WWDC 2010, and shows what gamers can expect when the Game is launched this quarter. To date, Wee Man Studios to date have held talks with ngmoco:), EA and Glu Mobile among others on the back of this demo and look forward to announcing a possible deal in the near future.
In addition to Galactic Racer, Wee Man Studios are working on a number of exciting projects, including:
- A number of small 2D & 3D mobile games for potential clients
- Major refresh of www.weemanstudios.com
- Creation of dedicated Galactic Racer website www.galactic-racer.com
- 3D architectural image project with Aetopia
- Development of multiplayer middleware with Ecliptic Labs
- Various projects and programmes with University of Ulster, Queen’s University Belfast and local colleges
Earlier this year Wee Man Studios took on a combination of Arts Council NI Funding and Private Investment to facilitate bringing in specialist contractors from England. This follows on from previous NI Screen funding and earlier round of private sector investment. Finding experienced game developers in NI remains a problem and resulted in Wee Man Studios global search for talent. Discussions took place with contractors from Ireland, Netherlands, Spain, Russia, & UK. Although heavily advertised, Wee Man Studios had to use Europe’s largest games industry recruitment firm to find the required skills mix.
Wee Man Studios have also developed a successful paid internship & training programme for extremely talented developers seeking a future in the mobile games industry. This was trialled last year for the first time and we believe it is the first of its kind in Northern Ireland. This year we took on Co. Down native David Bogues to help with our games engine research and development. David has proved a great success and we hope to expand on the internship & training programme over the next year. Overall Wee Man Studios continues to impress a worldwide audience with their games and underlying games technology. If you are interested in mobile games or mobile games technology please contact Liam McGarry, via liam@weemanstudios.com to see how we can help.
