Atlas Communications, a Belfast based telecommunications company provide a web hosting service which has seen the Liberal Democrats website outperform that of Labours and the Conservatives, in terms of speed and uptime.  Atlas provide web hosting through their data centre to Being Communications who were appointed to be part of the Liberal Democrats General Election team.

A survey carried out by Sitemorse (the independent industry ombudsman on web performance) found that the Liberal Democrat’s website came out above the Conservatives and Labour.  Thanks to Atlas’ Bytel network the Liberal Democrat’s site was the fastest to load and the only site out of the Liberal Democrats, Labour, Conservatives and the Green party to achieve 100% uptime.

Atlas’ data centre provides Being with a hosting service to support their online activity.  It is a secure facility and is designed to operate to 99.999% uptime and Being can access additional bandwidth automatically as they have peaks in traffic.  This means that Being did not have to worry about bandwidth congestion or downtime affecting the service they provide to the Liberal Democrat Party.  This proved essential during the run up to the general election with over 100, 000 unique visitors to the Liberal Democrat website on the day before the election and over 40, 000 by 11am on Election Day.
