Blue Canvas launches new incubator for students, graduates and job seekers across Northern Ireland

  • Blue Canvas has launched the Blue Canvas Incubator, a new programme designed to help students, recent graduates and job seekers across Northern Ireland turn promising ideas into real digital products with the potential to create positive social impact.

The programme is built for people who have the idea and the energy but not yet the technical team, budget or confidence to take the first step alone. It is also open to community builders, professionals, charities, local organisations and anyone with an idea that could make life better for people in Northern Ireland or beyond.

Applicants are invited to pitch their idea in whatever format suits them best — an email, voice note, video, slide deck, prototype, written proposal or rough sketch. If the idea is selected, Blue Canvas will help shape, design, build and launch the product end-to-end, then support the project as it moves towards market.

There are brilliant ideas all over Northern Ireland that never get built because people do not have the technical team, budget or confidence to take the first step. The incubator is about removing that barrier. If the idea is strong and it can do some good, we want to help bring it to life. Phil Patterson, founder of Blue Canvas

Blue Canvas works at the intersection of AI, automation and digital product development. The incubator will focus particularly on ideas that use technology to improve access, opportunity, community services, local business, education, health, skills or everyday quality of life.

Unlike a traditional accelerator with a fixed application format, the Blue Canvas Incubator is designed to be simple and accessible. Applicants do not need a polished business plan or a technical background. They simply need to explain the problem, why it matters, who the idea would help, and what they imagine the product could become.
