The Business Support centre Team at North West Regional College (NWRC) has just completed a two year project with Fijowave to help improve the company's software development skills and support its future innovation plans.
The college partnered with the Dublin based company to successfully complete this Innovation Boost project, supported by InterTradeIreland.
The project focused on developing next-generation remote monitoring technology, providing customers with a more flexible way to securely access, monitor and manage connected equipment.

The collaboration brought together Fijowave's expertise in secure remote access technologies with specialist knowledge from NWRC's Industry 4.0 Centre to strengthen the company's capability in software engineering, cloud technologies, virtualisation and cybersecurity.
Throughout the project, Fijowave and NWRC worked together on the development and evaluation of new software technologies while facilitating knowledge transfer between the company and the academic team. The collaboration strengthened Fijowave's internal capability in software development, cloud technologies and digital innovation.
Michael O'Keefe, Chief Executive Officer at Fijowave, said: ‘’InterTradeIreland’s Innovation Boost Programme has helped strengthen our technical capability and accelerate the development of new software technologies within Fijowave. Working with NWRC gave our engineers direct access to specialist academic expertise, expanding their technical skills and accelerating our software development, which contributed significantly to the success of the project.’’

Cathal Ferry, Manager of NWRC’s Industry 4.0 Centre, added that the project provided valuable benefits for both industry and academia: "This project demonstrates the value of collaboration between industry and academia. Working with Fijowave enabled our team to apply specialist expertise within a commercial environment while strengthening our knowledge of cloud technologies, virtualisation and software engineering. The collaboration also created valuable opportunities for knowledge transfer that will benefit our future work with students and industry."
