Data Engineer

    This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Technology & Digital Development team as a Data Engineer. You will support our journey to creating a single source of the truth, by enabling our wider data and analytics analyst access to quality and trusted data.  We are on a journey and you will be joining the team at the start, helping us become the best in class by shaping architecture, tooling and best practices.

    The role

    As Data Engineer, you’ll execute data analytics projects that are varied in nature and demand a wide spectrum of skills from data manipulation through to data visualisation. Work closely with various Business functions as well as other teams in Danske Bank to focus on preparing, assessing and cleansing the data and data structures needed for analytics projects. Support documentation of our data, and information: supporting understanding of data with the business and analytics teams.

    What you’ll do

    As Data Engineer, you’ll:

    • maintain and improve existing data pipelines
    • work in partnership with the wider Danske Bank business functions to ensure a purposeful single source of the truth that is available to all
    • build scalable solutions
    • automate manual processes
    • take a lead in complex business challenges and mentor other team members
    • perform ad-hoc analysis for internal or external users as required
    • contribute to the creation of new technical solutions to innovate, increase efficiencies and make the Bank’s data actionable
    • ensure customers are provided with advice and service compliant with all existing legal, regulatory and voluntary code obligations, and all Bank standards, policies, processes and procedures
    • ensure all BI activities are aligned to the Bank’s core values and consistent with the fair treatment of all customers

    What skills / qualifications will you need?

    Essential

    • 5+ years hands- on experience as an ETL/DWH developer with strong knowledge in designing, developing, and delivering end-to-end data integration processes for large scale data warehouses
    • Experience in design, development and deployment of data warehouses or relational/analytical/multi-dimensional data marts.
    • Knowledge of general data engineering principles and data architecture
    • Ability to think logically, with a high level of numeracy and the ability to interpret data

     Preferred

    • Experience of re-platforming activities from on premise to AWS
    • Experience with IBM DataStage or SSIS
    • A strong understanding of at least 1 BI analytical applications (Qlikview/QlikSense Tableau, SSRS etc)
    • 3rd Level degree in IT or related STEM discipline
    • Experience with Alteryx
    • Good working knowledge of Python
    • Experience with Hadoop and Spark

    • Competitive salary depending on experience
    • 40 days’ leave per year (30 days’ annual leave plus 10 paid bank holidays)

    Please note:

    • this is a full time role at 35 hours per week
    • the job role may require travel to Copenhagen, and possibly other areas of the Group. Such travel may be outside normal business hours and require overnight stays
