Assistant Financial Accountant

    Assistant Financial Accountant

    Role Purpose & Context

    Reporting to the Lead Financial Accountant, this role will assist with the accurate and timely processing of accounts and associated activities across our operations in Belfast and Dublin, feeding into the wider global organisation.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts including month end journals.
    • Balance sheet reconciliations and analysis.
    • Intercompany reconciliations.
    • Accounts Payable administration:
      • Monitoring the receipt and issue of purchase orders, ensuring they are correctly authorised and matching these to the subsequent invoices.
      • Management of invoice processing including posting invoices to creditors ledger on SAP, ensuring invoices are correctly authorised.
      • Vendor statement reconciliations.
    • ​Reconciliation and auditing of staff expenses; on call, out of pocket and per diem claims.
    • Monitoring contractor time sheets.
    • SAP, Concur and Fieldglass profile maintenance.
    • Assist in monitoring and updating the Finance intranet site, including expense policies etc.
    • Assist with the year end audit and preparation.
    • Assist with the completion of statutory and statistical returns.
    • Assist the Lead Financial accountant, Financial Analysts, Finance Generalists and Pay and Benefits Partner with other tasks as necessary.
    • Support key stakeholders by providing ad hoc and standard reporting and analysis.
    • Participate in and undertake projects or initiatives as directed by the Lead Financial Accountant.
    • Identify opportunities to improve methods and procedures and drive plans to realise those opportunities.

    Required Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

    • Part qualified accountant or Accounting Technician qualified.
    • A minimum of four years experience in a similar role.
    • Experience working with accounting system(s).
    • Experience in reconciliations, posting journals, good understanding of debits and credits.
    • Good degree of competency in Microsoft Excel and associated Microsoft packages.

     

    Desired Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

    • Working knowledge of SAP.
    • Working knowledge of Concur.
    • Evidence of customer / client interaction.
    • Experience of working in a globally distributed team.
    • Evidence of continuous personal and professional development.
